Due to the restrictive government of Belarus, it was not possible to have the MOS in the capitol Minsk, so we had to the second biggest city, Gomel. The spot: up to 2km long wall situated on the bank of the river named Soj in central cultural park of the city.

As Belarus is very close to Russia, a lot of artists from there participated at the Meeting. A stage was near-by where russian rappers and break-dancers showed their skills. The belorussian girlies are really beautiful, they are open-minded and love Hip-Hop. It was pretty fresh to get an impression of how Hip-Hop- lives in Russia. About 2000 people checked out the scene.

 

 

Gomel is the administrative center of Homiel Voblast and the second-largest city in Belarus. It has a population of 479,935 in 2006. Homel is situated in the southeastern part of the country, on the right bank of Sozh river, close to the border with Ukraine, in close proximity to Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The country relies on imports such as oil from Russia. In the country’s 2006 presidential election, Lukashenko won the election with 80% of the vote, but the OSCE and other organizations called the election unfair. Critics were detained and beaten by police during protests.
